Title: Structured Cabling Site Coordinator

Location: Mineola, NY

Job Type: Long Term Contract

Compensation: $25/hr

World class Medical Center in Mineola, NY has an opening for an IT Structured Cabling Site Coordinator. Individual is responsible for coordinating and overseeing Structured Cabling construction project(s), installations within the Main Hospital. The ideal candidate needs to be able to supervise contractors, communicate with project team and end users, schedule work, read and understand architectural drawings, provide/update necessary documentation.

Position is also responsible to coordinate and assist various operations and engineering support teams in installing, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment. Requires flexibility with days/hours, working during evenings or weekends to oversee the Low Voltage Cable Vendor crews.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and schedule structured cabling installations
  • Coordinate and schedule work with the GC s, trades, and internal staff
  • Perform cabling and fiber patching
  • Coordinate low voltage cable vendor work (i.e. cable installs, patching, fire stopping)
  • Maintain cabling documentation (as-built drawings, cable pathways, risers, etc.)
  • Follows and governs technology room standards and policies/procedures
  • Ensure that all IDFs are secure (locked) at all times when no access is required by authorized personnel
  • Provide access to these spaces to approved personnel
  • Routinely check the security of all spaces and prevent unapproved or unauthorized access
  • Report any anomalies within these spaces
  • Ensure that any work conducted in these spaces is conducted in a non-disruptive fashion
  • Ensure that equipment is protected, if necessary, due to the nature of the work being conducted
  • Prevent workers who have legitimate access to these spaces from propping open doors
  • During working hours, be available on short notice to provide access to spaces for approved personnel
  • At the end of day, ensure that all spaces are clean and secure
  • Process required paperwork, including project status

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge in Cabling infrastructure, including fiber
  • Basic knowledge in Structured Cabling Codes and Standards
  • Ability to read Architectural, IT and MEP drawings
  • Basic knowledge of MEP systems and environmentals
  • Basic knowledge in Penetrations and Fire Stopping
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge in Data networking
  • Excellent communication skills and works well with end users, IT Groups, Vendors and Outside Consultants
